California

When we got into town my best friend and J's god mother came by to meet him! After that I headed to meet up with my mom and go to the rehearsal dinner for my brothers wedding! She didn't tell them I was coming so it was a surprise! He got to meet my brother and his fiancé and her family and my sister, brother in law and niece and nephew!
Here's Jackson and his cousin Haley:

The next day I was going to hang out with Katharine but she ended up having to work, so I ran some errands (had to get wrapping paper and a card for wedding gift) and then went over to my grandmas to see her and let her meet and hold J before the wedding. I had perfect timing and got there just as my aunt and uncle who came from Georgia for the wedding got there! We just sat and chatted for awhile! And I just realized that I didn't get any pictures if him with great grandma, I'm so upset about that. I was so horrible about taking pictures the whole time, I really need to be better about that.

After that it was time to get ready to go to dinner at some friends house, Chris and Rachel.

He was a good boy but slightly fussy as it got later in the evening.

The next day, Saturday, I meet Katharine for coffee at panara. Here's a pic I snapped while I was waiting for her

Then it was time to get ready for the wedding. Here are some pics in the car on the way to the wedding

I didn't get any pictures at the wedding except the photo booth ones, here's one my sister took while we were in the photo booth

I'm so bummed I didn't get any pictures. But taking care of a new baby in a new environment wasn't easy! I left my camera in the stroller inside one if the buildings and josh had my phone in his pocket since I didn't have any pockets. I'm determined to be better at taking pictures.

The next morning I went over to Katharine's mom, Cynthia's, house so she could meet Jackson! Here's j with his auntie Katharine

That afternoon Katharine came over and our friend Jacque came too meet little J. My mom came by to say good bye to us and little J. Early the next morning we drove back home to utah. J once again doing amazing in the car.

The drive

When little J was 5 weeks old we drove to CA for my brothers wedding! Originally we weren't going to go because Jackson would have been not even 3 weeks old at the time of the wedding, but since he was born 3 weeks early we were much more comfortable going since he'd be almost 6 weeks old. It's a long drive, close to 11 hours, but he did SO great in the car. The car usually puts him to sleep so he slept most of the time. We left Thursday September 26 at 4:15 am. It was hard for me to sleep in the car but I was able to get a little bit of sleep. We took a lot of stuff! Stroller, rock and play, diapers, babies need a lot of stuff. I actually way over packed for Jackson. I didn't use half the stuff I took, but better safe then sorry right! As far as feeding during the drive I took a small cooler bag (it's really large lunch bag) with ice packs and another bag that had pump parts, freezer bags, milk storage bags, and bottles. I had pumped milk in the fridge so I took some of that and put it in the cooler. I gave him that milk and made sure I pumped around the same time I gave him a bottle in the car. When we stopped I would nurse him for a few minutes mainly for comfort and because he's used to being nursed. Some of the bottles during the drive were fresh milk I had just pumped once I had used up the milk I had brought. Because I had brought some milk I was able to save some of what I pumped for the weekend, I just put it from the cooler to my in laws fridge. I did get a car charger for my electric pump, but I didn't even use it, I just used the manual pump the whole weekend, so next time we travel I will probably only bring the manual pump. We got into town in the early afternoon and got settled at my in laws.

1 month pics

I posted about Jackson being 1 month old, but didn't include the pictures! So here they are! I tried 2 different times to get these pictures and he was just not having it! I learned that I need to do it in the morning because he's fussier in the later afternoon/evenings! Still so cute though!

Here are some other pics from around 1 month old!

LOVE these little baby feet!

Way behind

Wow, I've been a major slacker about posting! Since this is my journal and something I want to be able to look back on I really need to start being better about keeping up on things! I'm going to do a few posts to try to at least keep up with pictures and whatever I can remember for now! Then hopefully I can be better about keeping up!
