9 month old!

Today's Jackson is 9 months old! I can't even believe how fast time is going by!

On Friday I took him for his 9 month well baby check and he's doing great! We always make guesses about his weight, Nana's was 20, mine was 21, and daddy guesses 22. He was 20.14 so I was closest! Mama always knows lol! He's 28.1" tall and dr says he looks great!

He's now officially crawling! He also army crawls sometimes too. He has one tooth that has broken through and is still coming up. Teething doesn't seem to bother him too much, he occasionally gets a little fussy. I want to get him an amber teething necklace. He's recently started to try to pull up on things and he loves standing up, although still needs a bit of support or he'll fall. He's a dare devil and loves going upside down, spinning in circles, swinging, etc. He's always on the move now and doesn't sit still. It's hard to nurse him because he gets so distracted and wants to look at and get into everything!

He's curious about everything and loves playing with his toys and reading books. He's mainly in size 12 month clothing now, although sometimes 9 months still fits. He's wearing size 3 diapers during the day (target or kroger brand) and size 4 pampers or Huggies overnight diapers.

He sleeps great. I'm still working on bedtime, trying to get him to go to sleep later and sleep in later. Seems like no matter what time he goes to bed he's awake by 7. I'm hoping if I stick with a later bedtime he'll start sleeping later. He usually takes a 1 1/2 morning nap around 9 and a 2 hour afternoon nap around 12:30 or 1. Since I started stroller strides his nap schedule is messed up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but we just kinda wing it and he does well. Sometimes he'll take a 20 minute nap in the car and be good to go for a few more hours. He pretty much goes with the flow and is an easy going baby.

He loves food! He's still eating purées but is also eating pretty much anything and everything. Purées are just so easy, especially to up into the re usable pouches and give him on the go. But he loves "real food". Right now he's really loving watermelon. He's also a huge fan of Mac and cheese and bread.

He's great with his hands. He moves things easily from one hand to the other and is good at picking things up with his fingers. He sees every speck on the floor and goes for it. I have to be really careful about keeping the floors clean!

My first Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first Mother's Day. I woke up and got my coffee and Jackson actually slept in. Josh said happy Mother's Day to me and then got up and went into his office. He came back with a package. My mom and I saw the package by the front door on Friday and I knew what it was. I had sent him 2 links to 2 different diaper bags on the petunia pickle bottom outlet sale. I knew he had no idea what to get me and I love those bags and since I will be using a diaper bag for the next few years I wanted a really nice one, but if course I wasn't going to by myself one. Anyways, when we saw it by the door I told her that I bet he hands me the box just like that and he won't wrap it or even open it. And that's exactly what happened. Oh well. I love the bag he chose out of the 2 I sent him. He also got me sees candy. He didn't get me a card and I was really hurt about that. I know it's stupid to get upset over something so small but it's my first Mother's Day and I wanted a card to put into J's scrapbook. Well luckily my mom got me a super cute card from J to me! She even put a hand and food print of his in it! She also gave me a target gift card, bought me some makeup at ulta and paid for my first month of stroller strides! I also got a card in the mail from Greg and Judy with a $50 visa gift card. We went out to dinner to rodizio grill, a Brazilian restaurant downtown. We had a nice dinner.

I had so many emotions going on Saturday night and yesterday. On Saturday night J was so tired he fell asleep while nursing. I tried to get him to wake up and eat more because he didn't nurse for long enough but he was out. So I put him in his crib and when he woke up crying at 10pm I wasn't surprised. So I went into his room and sat in the glider and nursed him. And I was overwhelmed with the love that I have for this little guy. I'm so incredible lucky to be his mom. I love being a mom, I feel like it's exactly what I was made to do. I'm amazed by this precious little boy and so thankful that I get to be his momma.

10 weeks

Only 10 weeks until we head to CA to spend a week at the beach with my family. That means it's time to get my shit together and get serious about my weight loss. There's no way I can get to where I want to be by then, BUT if I work really hard I can make big difference from where I am now.

Today the weather was really nice (72!!!) so I got out the jogging stroller and did couch to 5k day 1 with Jackson! And then when I put him down for his nap I did day 4 of the bikini body mommy challenge! I'm hoping that the weather will just keep getting nicer and I can do the c25k workout in the am before breakfast and then the bikini body mommy challenge after I put him down for his morning nap!

As far as eating I'm trying to have an English muffin with peanut butter or toast in the morning and then chicken with veggies for lunch and dinner and healthy snacks, like an apple and string cheese, grapes, a few crackers with cheese.

Sick

So on Wednesday I got what I can only guess was the stomach flu. It was horrible! I felt so crappy. The worst was in the afternoon/evening. Luckily my mom fed J his dinner and played with him until bath time and then josh bathed him and get him ready for bed, I nursed him and then josh put him to bed. I felt a lot better on the morning, just achy and tired and my head hurt. But I wasn't puky anymore so that was good! Thankfully J didn't get sick.

Anyways in a way this sorta helped my diet efforts. I was kinda falling off the diet wagon. When I started feeling better I didn't want to eat anything that would upset my stomach so I had toast and then chicken noodle soup. Since I've been sick I've been better about my eating. I've been better about eating smaller portions and not over eating. I made a bunch of meals for myself, chicken and veggies and put them into Tupperware and into the fridge and freezer. So that'll help. Last night we had a "bad" meal and had stuffed pork chop loins and mashed potatoes and I didn't finish it. I'm trying to eat smaller amounts every few hours. Even if it's just a granola bar.

Katharine will be here this weekend so I don't expect my eating to be perfect but once she leaves my plan is to have toast, or an English muffin breakfast sandwhich or English muffin with peanut butter for breakfast, chicken and veggies for lunch and dinner and for snacks on between have fruit and string cheese, granola bars, a few crackers, stuff like that.

I was also doing to the bikini body mommy challenge videos but had to put a hold on that from being sick. I really need to get back to those! And I can't wait for warmer weather so I can take J on more walk. I'm thinking that I'm going to try to do the couch to 5k workouts with him in the jogging stroller in the mornings. Were also going to try stroller strides. There is one just starting here in utah (in daybreak) the grand opening is April 30th. So if we like that and I join that will hopefully be a great workout for me to do. I think it's sort of expensive (like $60 a month) BUT if it's 5 or 6 days a week and I actually go 5-6 days a week and it's a good workout I think it would be worth it. And too hopefully meet some other moms. So we'll see how that first class goes and then decide.

Snuggling with glowy during his nap

I really need to do an end of the week photo post each week so I don't have so many pics to post at one time!

7 months!

Holy moly! Jackson is 7 months old today! He's growing and changing so much, practically on a daily basis it seems! He's such a little character and I love his sweet and spunky personality. He can be a moody boy occasionally but for the most part he's a happy little guy!

No well checks until 9 months so I don't know his weight or his height. But he's growing out of his 9 month pants. He just moved up into 9 month pjs and he's been in 9 month clothes for awhile now. Most 9 month onesies for great, 12 month onesies are too big, but 12 month pants fit better then 9 month pants. He's in size 3 up&up diapers and size 4 pampers extra absorbency for night time.

I'm no longer pumping and he's mainly getting boob and not bottles! He occasionally gets a bottle when were out shopping. I was worried that he wouldn't sleep through the night if we dropped the bedtime bottle, but it's been ok. He's woken up at 10pm and 11pm a few nights but last night he slept from 7:30 to about 6am. Sometimes he sleeps until 7 am but usually it's closer to 6:30 when he wakes up. He'll usually lay in his crib and move around and "talk" for a little bit before he starts fussing. I try to leave him in there until as close to 7 am as I can but once he starts getting upset I go get him. He takes a morning nap from 8:30-10 and a mid day nap from around 12:30-2:30 or 1-3. He was taking a short 30 minute evening nap at 5 but he isn't seeming to need that anymore, but then he's too tired at bedtime and falls asleep eating, hence the waking up at 10 or 11 pm. But I figure he'll get used to it. Last night I just woke him up when he fell asleep eating and he ate more and then slept fine.

He's recently gotten pretty attached to this little toy tiger he has. We call him Tiberius Tiger. He sleeps with him and loves to play with him. I figure I should probably get another one just in case something happens to him. I found a website that sells it and I'll have to order one.
Here's him and Tiberius:

He's working on picking things up with his fingers! He's getting pretty good at it too! I usually put some puffs on his tray at least once a day for him to practice. He likes them ok, but he LOVES the gerber lil crunchies! He also loves chunks of frozen fruit in the silicone feeder thing! He's also gotten really good at drinking out of his sippy cup!

He loves playing on the floor with his toys now and can roll all over the place!

We celebrates St. Patricks day and I made him a cute onesie:

We got him a bean bag chair at target:

And we are looking at, and planning to buy soon, a big boy car seat!

He also got his first owie that required a bandaid. Josh was holding him and he was touching Josh's beer can and then put his finger in it and got a cut :(
Can't really see the bandaid in the pics. Luckily it stopped bleeding and didn't need a bandaid at bedtime because it would be a chocking hazard. Josh felt SO bad.

He also went to his first party! Boston's 1st birthday party. He was tired so he wasn't his usual happy self but he was still good! And he wore a cute new (size 12 month!) onesie!
